One theory that has been suggested for why humans began undertaking agriculture is the population growth by Lewis Binford. The increase on the population led to higher demand for food. People needed to look for more ways to obtain food rather than collecting whatever they can find and hunting. Their option was undertaking agriculture and domestication of plants and animals. They benefited more from planting.

The Domestication theory is one theory that was suggested and humans took over agriculture because it was what they needed to survive. From farming plants and hunting wild life.

There is a theory proposed in 1908 by Raphael Pumpelly, an American geologist and explorer on the origins of agriculture. His theory is that due to a dry spell both humans and animals lived close to oases. He thinks because the species were so close, that’s when the domestication of animals and planting of seeds happened. However, climatic data doesn’t support this theory.
