For example, people who live near coasts focus on fishing and navigating waterways. ParticipantEnvironmental determinism is how climate changes can affect societies/states and culture. An example of environmental determinism would be people who live near the coast or next to a river, because they settle near the water the soil is more fertile, which allows them to farm and cultivate easily as well as access to clean water to cook, bath and travel.

ParticipantEnvironment determinism also known as climate determinism is an approach which implies that individuals are bound to their environmental settings, especially climate. In other words different environmental differences determine human behaviors. An example is a country in the Tropics such as Jamaica where people have the stereotype of them having a slow carefree mentality because it is in the tropics and is surrounded by the Caribbean sea.

ParticipantEnvironmental determinism is measured by climate or geographical determinism and people believe that this “physical environment” around us shape the social and cultural development. One example may be that people say that Alaska has a high rate of suicides, could this be because of the environment, weather, the fact that half of there year is dark. People who in Alaska who most definitely behave differently from a person from New York. Where here we have four seasons, we have a “night” and “day.”
