The industrial revolution had a big impact on society back then as the invention of clocks and watches changed the way people began to behave as they also started to organized themselves in new ways. People then realize the importance of how essential time is in the money making process. They enjoyed the benefit of having digital watches and clocks to pace how fast they worked instead of the uses of hour glasses, like egg timer which sometimes could be inaccurate.

The Industrial Revolution changed modern conceptions of time by introducing clocks. Clocks created a movement away from task oriented time such a harvesting or weather patterns, to a new standardized time represented in hours, minutes, and seconds. Clocks led to changes in work schedules in factories and a new school schedule for children.

“How did the Industrial Revolution change modern conceptions of time?”

The clock was created a while before man started living by it. The Industrial Revolution modernized people’s once quiet, quaint farm lives. Factories filled with people who were once used to living farm lives relocated to cities and were now on a clock. The Industrial Revolution started what we know as a work day, a work week. If the factory started running at 7 a.m., then work starts at seven a.m. and our lives are run the same way. We cannot be late to class or work and expect for things to be fine, time is of the essence!

It changed modern concepts of time because the necessity to get things done at a fast and efficient pace became a world-renowned thing. The idea of getting from one place to the other within a day or two came about and so on and so forth.

<span style=”font-weight: 400;”>The industrial revolution brought the concept of time. Before the revolution, people estimated the time but employers wanted to know how many hours do the workers work for the employer and make sure to pay as much as the workers worked. (Don’t have to pay extra)</span>
